Welcome, Dr. Andrew (Andy) Schuiteman, to Neighborhood Dental Brandon

March 16, 2026

The team at Neighborhood Dental Brandon is excited to welcome a new dentist to our community: Dr. Andrew Schuiteman, who is now seeing patients

Originally from Orange City, Iowa, Dr. Schuiteman now calls Sioux Falls home, where he lives with his wife and their three children. He is passionate about helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through compassionate, relationship-focused dental care.

Education and Training

Dr. Schuiteman earned his Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Dakota, with emphases in saxophone and choral music and minors in biology and chemistry. He then received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he was honored with the American Academy of Oral Medicine Certificate of Merit.

In addition to comprehensive family dentistry, Dr. Schuiteman brings advanced training in:

  • Dental implants
  • Sleep apnea therapy
  • IV sedation dentistry
  • Wisdom teeth extractions

These services expand the care available to patients at Neighborhood Dental Brandon, bringing more advanced treatment options closer to home.

A Patient-Centered Approach to Dentistry

Dr. Schuiteman knew early on he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. After shadowing dentists in high school, he quickly realized dentistry combined everything he loved: science, artistry, and hands-on patient care.

His perspective on healthcare was further shaped while serving as an EMT with Orange City Area Health System, where he learned how powerful trust and communication can be when helping patients through challenging situations. Those experiences continue to shape his patient-centered approach today.

One of the most rewarding aspects of dentistry for Dr. Schuiteman is helping patients feel comfortable and confident during treatment, especially those with dental anxiety.

In one memorable case, a patient who previously required hospital sedation eventually completed complex dental care comfortably in the dental office using only nitrous oxide after several visits focused on building trust and comfort.

For Dr. Schuiteman, dentistry is about more than treating teeth. It’s about building relationships and helping patients feel confident in their care.

His approach is guided by three core values:

  • Growth – continuously learning and improving
  • Honesty – providing clear, thoughtful treatment recommendations
  • Stability – creating a dependable, supportive experience for patients

When he’s not at the clinic, Dr. Schuiteman enjoys spending time with his family exploring Sioux Falls parks, visiting the Great Plains Zoo or the Butterfly House & Aquarium, and tackling home improvement projects.

He also stays connected to his musical roots as a member of the professional choir ensemble Transept, performing in several concerts each year. During football season, you’ll likely find him cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs with his wife.
