Meet Dr. Andrew Schuiteman
Dr. Andrew Schuiteman is a dentist at Neighborhood Dental Brandon who provides family, cosmetic, restorative, and emergency dentistry to patients in Brandon, Sioux Falls, and nearby South Dakota communities. Originally from Orange City, Iowa, he now calls Sioux Falls home, where he lives with his wife and their three children and enjoys helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through compassionate care.
Dr. Schuiteman earned his Bachelor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Dakota, with emphases in saxophone and choral music and minors in biology and chemistry. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he received the American Academy of Oral Medicine Certificate of Merit.
Dr. Schuiteman knew early on he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. After shadowing dentists in high school, he quickly realized dentistry combined everything he loved: science, artistry, and hands-on patient care.
Helping Patients Overcome Dental Anxiety
One of the most rewarding parts of dentistry for Dr. Schuiteman is helping patients feel comfortable and confident during treatment. He takes time to build relationships and meet patients where they are, especially those with dental anxiety.
In one memorable case, a patient who previously required hospital sedation was eventually able to complete complex dental care comfortably in the office with only nitrous oxide after building trust over several visits.
Life Outside the Office
When he’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find him in full dad mode, spending time with his family exploring Sioux Falls parks, visiting the Great Plains Zoo or Butterfly House, or tackling home improvement projects. He also enjoys staying connected to his musical roots as a member of the professional choir ensemble Transept, performing in several concerts each year. On fall Sundays, you’ll find him cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs with his wife.
